April 15
Khalil Greene's diving stop kept the Dodgers from scoring on Sunday and the Padres pitchers did the rest as "my" San Diego Padres won 1-0.
It was a great game where every play was meaningful, and pitching and defense was the difference. It's weird that I love low scoring baseball games, yet I prefer offense in football and basketball...
Greg Maddux, Joe Thatcher, Cla Meredith, Heath Bell, and Trevor Hoffman combined for a 5 hit shutout. Maddux went the first 5 innings to notch his 2nd win on the new season. Once again he was very efficient throwing just 68 pitches, but the 95 degree heat probably contributed to his short outing.
Paul McAnulty's sacrifice fly in the 4th provided the lone tally for the good guys. P-Mac kept his hands back on an 0-2 lollipop curveball and lifted it to RF allowing Jim Edmonds to score.
